Secret Garden: A Closer Look at a Recent Project

The original outdoor living space of this client’s home was dated and needed the cozy yet modern style the homeowners desired. This yard lacked purpose and failed to adequately adapt to the family’s outdoor lifestyle. Our shared vision was to transform this backyard into an elegant, contemporary entertainment hub while maintaining privacy with a welcoming sound barrier.

A StruXure pergola, paired with TimberTech at the back landing and as a privacy screen, was the obvious choice to add functionality and a mixed material balance to this yard. Integrating forward StruXure posts alongside elevated seating and a serving counter provided a truly built-in, intentional look. The same TimberTech product was utilized on the high bar, inconspicuously blending the privacy wall into the rest of the space. To enhance and support the cozy atmosphere, a fire table featuring complementary wood detailing was included.

Our StruXure system also provided a covered cooking area, blocking the harsh afternoon sun from roasting the grill master and preventing glare on the new outdoor TV. The bar atmosphere is further optimized with a Bromic heater to keep guests warm on chilly nights without having to sit next to the fire table. Well-manicured landscaping surrounding this whole setting muffles the noise of nearby traffic while softening the hardscape elements.

A bronze-finished StruXure was selected as a statement piece but also complements earth tones on the home’s facade. Similarly, TimberTech English Walnut and Legacy in Pecan were chosen to bring warmth to the entire area. The risers, finished in TimberTech’s Legacy Driftwood, supplement cooler tones found in cleverly placed patio pavers. Custom hanging pendant lights elevate the StruXure’s contemporary aesthetics, while an oversized granite countertop emphasizes TimberTech detailing.

Significant thought went into our design for the rear privacy wall, which cleverly segues into a dedicated enclosure for waste receptacles. To preserve a cohesive aesthetic, we installed a combination of StruXure products and TimberTech decking. Additionally, we commissioned custom channels specifically meant for deck boards to slide into. These channels were professionally powder-coated to match the bronze finish of the primary structure.

Leading out the back door into their beautiful refuge is now an invitation into elegance and cozy comfort. Each section is distinct yet gracefully flows from one into the next.
