Berteau Oasis - Elmhurst, IL

This project sets a new standard for urban outdoor living, located on a small new development lot in Elmhurst. This client wanted a large outdoor living space while preserving the green space for the kids. We took advantage of the width of the lot and stretched the design along the side of the house. The one side features a large pergola that covers the dining space and massive outdoor kitchen and free-floating bar. The bar is open on the bottom to open the space up, so it didn’t feel heavy with all the stone masonry work. The kitchen features everything an indoor kitchen would have with the exception of an oven. The back wall was built up to solve a privacy issue and also to house the outdoor TV to watch games. The other end the living space features a custom-built water and fire feature. Our client wanted both without taking up an enormous amount of space, so we combined the two, giving them the best of both worlds. Custom natural masonry stone was chosen and installed for the vertical elements and the pavers were chosen to coordinate with the coloring of the brick on the home. The sconces and string lighting gives that outdoor bistro look at night.

We took advantage of the width of this lot and spread the design across the length of the house, including an outdoor kitchen and bar and fire and water feature.
