When Kevin and Nathan first met with this client they had a basic 12’ x 12’ builders special paver patio. This typical Elmhurst patio was 60 feet wide by 125 feet deep with only 40 feet from the back of the house to the lot line.

Our Client had a list of items that they wanted to be accomplished in order to achieve this award-winning outdoor environment:

• Kitchen complete with a grill, dual drawer fridge, and a double-tap kegerator
• Bar seating with a clear view of the TV
• Dining room which sits in between of the kitchen and living room
• A living room where you can sit and enjoy a nice glass of wine in the evening without feeling disconnected from the other rooms
• Natural privacy from neighboring properties through the use of plant material
• Complete outdoor audio system and a TV at the bar
• A remarkable lighting system
• Tie everything into the existing home so it looks and feels like it was there since the house was initially constructed
• Accomplish all of the above while preserving green space for the kids to play

They thought it was a difficult task, POE on the other hand, did not! Our elite team of designers went straight to the drawing board to endure the task. As you can see in the finished photos, we completed everything on the list without making sacrifices or compromises.

As you walk out and step into the awarding-winning environment you are instantly in the dining and kitchen area. There, you can cook dinner on the grill or grab a fresh pint of draft beer to sit at the bar and watch the game. Want a formal dinner party? We covered that too. The dining room has ample space for a large table complemented with an outdoor chandelier and views of the warm double-sided fireplace. Just feeling a nice glass of red wine after a nice dinner? Sit back and relax on the couch, kick your feet up, and warm up in front of the see-through fireplace.

We checked everything off the list and did so while making this new environment fit in. Starting with our in-house masonry construction team, concrete foundations, and a full bed depth natural building stone was built, complete with a Unilock paver patio. Next, our sister company came in and constructed all of the outdoor audio and visual system to tie into the existing home ecosystem. Our last crew put in the finishing touches with live plant material for screening, privacy, and seasonal color, as well as fresh green grass.

In the evening, everything stands out with the overhead lighting and the soft, subtle uplighting on the trees. The string lights change colors too, so you can get festive during the holidays or show off your favorite team's color during the game. As this project is now turned over to the client for years of enjoyment, laughter, and love with friends and family, POE’s maintenance department comes in weekly to maintain everything from the grass up.
